Insidious

“Insidious,” from the creators of “Saw” and “Paranormal Activity,” keeps its audience on the edge of their seat and with their faces covered throughout its entirety, but it still does not meet expectations.
The film has the usual haunted house story but with a bit of a twist. Josh Lambert, played by Patrick Wilson, and his family just moved into a new beautiful home with their three children and just as they start to feel comfortable the spooky and scary stuff takes action.
First it is the usual footsteps, then the front door opens in the middle of the night, and weird noises are heard throughout the house. But things get pretty serious when one of the children suffers an accident leaving him in a coma like state that the doctors cannot explain. This prompts the family to move into another new house but all the same unexplained events are happening again but this time there are some demons also.
Since the movie came from the minds of the people who have produced some of the scariest movies of the past decade one would think to be prepared for a complete scare, but sadly all if not most of the scares and screams came from the usual pop up and surprise scare. However there was one scene in particular that had the whole audience scream and gasp.
Some of the best horror flicks are the ones that make life after the movie rather hard to get through. So maybe the bar was just set to high, “Saw” brought on a whole new type of gore flick that tested how much the viewer could stomach seeing other people’s stomach and body parts and left a lot of people sick after the movie while “Paranormal Activity” made it hard to sleep at night and be home alone again, but in Insidious the scare stops when the movie ends.
The movie was still very entertaining and kept the adrenaline pumping and kept everyone’s hair on end. The movie does have a bit of an eerie little kid feel to it as it is very reminiscent of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland, but not like the Disney movie.
While the movie did not turn out as scary as expected it still is still one of the better and scarier horror films of the year.
For the blurb-
Insidious a nice scary movie for a fun date night, just be sure not to spill the popcorn.
