To inaugurate the newly remodeled space in the art gallery, Mesa College will hold an exhibition by sculptor Stephanie Bedwell. Her gallery, titled imago mundi: Reflections on the Whole sculptures, is a vision of her world using visual metaphors crafted from archetypal symbols and references to physical existence. In a press release she states, "It is both a personal reflection on meaning and matter, and a desire to speak to that part of us that accesses symbolic memories."

In addition to being a sculptor, Bedwell is also a painter and installation artist throughout the San Diego area. She is the Art Program director for Mt. Helix Academy, a private school in La Mesa, and is currently teaching art at Grossmont College.

The reception for the exhibit will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Immediately following the reception will be an Artist Lecture with Bedwell, which will take place in LRC 435. The Art Gallery's regular hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 12-5 p.m., and Thursday 12-8 p.m. Admission is free to the public and parking will be free on reception night.
