Kurt Baker, a Mesa student, died on Feb. 24 at the San Diego State Sigma Pi fraternity house on College Drive.
The cause of Baker's death is still under investigation. Baker was found the morning of Feb. 24, by the president of the fraternity's chapter, Eitan Zimmerman, and a fellow member, Brett Bannon, unconscious in his bed with blood and "black liquid" coming out of his face, according to the Daily Aztec.
Baker was declared dead later that evening at Alvarado Hospital.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office will issue a toxicology report. However, it could be 60 to 90 days before any information is released.
Baker's father, Lee Baker, said that it is still too early to comment accurately on the cause of his son's death, but told NBC San Diego that he thinks that Kurt mixed alcohol with some sort of drug.
Baker moved to San Diego in August 2005 after graduating from Sacramento Lutheran High School. He attended Grossmont College, and transferred to Mesa where he was majoring in business. Services were held on March 3 at St. Lutherans Church in Fair Oaks, Calif.

Dear mesa press,
I am offended that you would smear Kurt's dignity to a whole school via newspaper. It is completely unnecessary to reveal that he had "blood and black liquid" coming from his mouth. (Continued…)
