Rum Jungle's atmosphere is just what locals need for the summer. A laidback, easy to find smoothie and sub place.

Rum Jungle is nestled right near Pacific Beach on 4150 Mission Blvd, #153, San Diego, CA 92109. When entering Rum's you hear the reggae music playing in the background and you notice the couches to your left and the high chair and tables to your right and the huge bamboo mirrors, as well as the palm trees.

Rum jungle has been opened for five years, owned and run by Al "Pops" Dehkhoda.

They offer a variety of smoothies and sandwiches for breakfast or lunch. Their island breeze contains; bananas, strawberries, and berries. The bananas, and the strawberries soothe you and leave you full. They also have a berry paradise, and a strawberry banana smoothie. You can also add your choice of a protein, fiber, or immunity boost.

Their sandwiches are not only delicious, but they are also healthy for you. Their famous Cali club burger contains; turkey, bacon, avocado, swiss cheese and your choice of veggies (lettuce, sprouts, spinach, onion, cucumbers and pickles).

For breakfast they offer ham, eggs, cheese and tomato on a croissant. Also for breakfast they offer their power wrap with egg whites, turkey, black beans, salsa and cheese. Their Cobb salad is made with lettuce, watercress, bacon, chicken, eggs, cheese, avocado and chives.

Rum Jungle is mostly known for serving acai, a very strong fruit grown in the Amazon in Brazil. It contains protein, and its 40% antioxidants, it's supposed to increase the oxygen in your body. They offer it in either a smoothie or in a bowl with granola, strawberries, peaches, honey and mixed berries. The acai, it has an exotic flavor to it and an enjoyable t fruitiness. What makes their acai unique from many competitors, is that they import it from Brazil.

The Jungle is mainly locals and it has such a unique atmosphere, that after going there once, you go back the next time and you're one of the friends calling the owner "Pops."

The music goes great with the palm trees; it mellows you out after a walk on the boardwalk. Nothing better than to sit, read a magazine, listen to reggae and sip on a tropical smoothie.

Another thing to keep in mind is that beside the couches and food they have computers with Internet access starting at just $2.50. Rum Jungle is open Mon-Sat from 9am-7pm and 9am-6pm on Sundays.
