A Cinema Masterpiece – “The Revenant”

A+Cinema+Masterpiece+-+The+Revenant

Once again Alejandro G. Iñárritu amazes his audience with one of his phenomenal films “The Revenant”. This western 1820s film was inspired by true-life experiences. It is said that this film was one of the most challenging films to shoot in the history of cinema. But due to the amazing production and direction, by Iñárritu, and spectacular cinematography, by Emmanuel Lubezki, the movie makes us feel like we are actually experiencing it as we watch it.

When Hugh Glass, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, is out exploring the wilderness he is suddenly attacked by a bear receiving severe injuries. This scene will definitely have you with eyes wide open and biting your finger nails. Glass and his hunting team are trying to survive while making their way home. Glass wakes up one morning realizing he has been left behind, almost dying, by his hunting team. He uses his survival skills in order to find his way back home and be with his family.

This film definitely has its audience on a roller coaster of reactions, gasps, suspense, and stricken by the instinctive violence. The cinematography is simply jaw-dropping, thanks to the incredible Lubezki. But, the camerawork is not the only impressive aspect of the film. The actors did an amazing job with each of their roles, bringing each character to life. Tom Hardy outdid his job during his roll of Fitzgerald. He was convincing and played the perfect villain.

“The Revenant” has been nominated for 12 Oscars and won three Golden Globes, which makes you think it is an outstanding film. The direction, editing, makeup and especially the acting of this film ties all together to create a masterpiece of cinema. Before watching this film, be sure to come with a mature attitude and be prepared to be kept at the edge of your seat.
