“Crime 101” is a puzzling movie that stars Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo. In which it revolves around Hemsworth and his character Mike Davis a professional heist robber and Ruffalo’s character Lou Lubensick an agent who is tasked into figuring out the robberies over Los Angeles is suspicious that these robberies over time have been performed by one man.
Mike Davis is quiet, stealthy, secretive and is all about work and moves around a lot in the city of Los Angeles as he robbed 3 million dollars worth of diamonds in the beginning. As everyone sees him as something different, he lives a secret life only love can crack.
Hemsworth co-stars Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry play great characters as well, as one can gravitate towards them, as both are trying to prove something to the people above them. Even though the movie revolves around Hemsworth, Ruffalo and Berry play a great role in the movie.
This movie is not like any other movie Hemsworth has made, instead of being a total bad ass in fighting people or killing someone, this movie shows how much Hemsworth can act with his heart and personality rather than with his muscles.
If you like puzzling movies in which it has you thinking every 5 minutes of what is going to happen, this movie is for you. Not a lot of shooting, just a lot of calculation and precise thinking, always thinking one step forward. This is what the movie really is about, not about GTA robberies or a guy trying to shoot everyone, it’s truly a heartfelt movie about a guy doing what’s best for him.
Love in this movie is also a thing, it doesn’t have a big role in it but it does feature Hemsworth character having a soft side and wanting a real relationship rather than just stealing one over lust. Even love can change a man’s fortune and his ways into changing as a better person.
No special effects, just good ol scenery. If you love good scenery, the shots of Los Angeles in this movie are absolutely stunning. Shots on the beach with a sunset background are beautiful and at night during the movie, the city lights up for a stunning shot.
The music track for this movie wasn’t anything special, it was just a lot of simple beats. This movie lacks the music but the scenery really makes up for it.
Even though this isn’t a big name movie for Hemsworth I really enjoyed this movie over some of his popular ones. This movie is more than just your typical action movie, you can relate to these characters and the plot of the movie is a puzzle in which is fun figuring it out.
If your type of movie is a bunch of guys getting shot this movie is not for you, it does have a really slow start but the movie overall is good, but it’s not going to be Hemsworth craziest movie when it comes to action.
I also really enjoyed Mark Ruffalo in this movie because he plays a good character and a character that gets a lot of backlash in the movie. It’s a great role by him because it’s simple and a character any person can relate to. Also Halle Berry played a great role in which she did great in, with her emotions and making the scenes she does participate to be rather funny with a serious tone to it. Both Co-stars play great roles and just not Hemsworth.
The movie overall requires patience and an open mind in which the viewer can take it in without jumping into conclusions. This is not an action movie so people can get confused with the title being “Crime” as an action movie when it is not. Overall though it is a good movie and one in where I recommend.
