“Tonight, more than 200 years after a colony won the right to determine its own destiny, the task of perfecting our union moves forward,” President Barack Obama during his acceptance speech for his re-election last night.

Democratic candidate Obama won a second term in office over Republican candidate Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts, during the final hours of a tight race on Nov. 6.
