Everyone experiences stress during finals. Overcoming it will help you be more successful.

As the dawn of summer approaches, students are working tirelessly towards the ultimate goal of the school semester: passing their finals. Finals week is arguably most stressful week of the academic year. How can students remain focused during the last few days of class? Here are some sure-fire tips that are guaranteed to take the ease off of exam day.

  • Get rest! Sleep allows your body and mind to regenerate and replenish itself for a productive day ahead. Skimping out on rest prevents you from performing at your best. Set your schedule so that it allows you to get a full night’s rest! You will wake up energized and revived for a day of exams.
  • Do NOT skip meals. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Having a nutritious meal to start your day keeps you focused and powered. If you see yourself unable to have full meals, try packing snacks or nutritious drinks while you are on the go. The last thing you want to worry about is when hunger will strike during your busy day!
  • Study in sessions. Cramming is a popular study habit that students choose days before the final but it’s one of the most stressful! Allow yourself time to get through your material in a productive and fun way. Remove all distractions and choose an environment that will get you in the zone. Studying will be a breeze!
  • Take breaks. Listen to music in between your sessions or grab a snack in between subjects to keep you motivated while studying. Stretching helps you stay relaxed! Try out some yoga poses or go outside for some sunshine and fresh air. Once you go back to studying, you’ll be eager to finish off strong.

There are only a few more weeks left of the semester. Make sure you get plenty of sleep, eat full meals, study and take breaks so that your efforts pay off. Good luck and may the odds be in your favor!

Staff Writer Hello! As you already know, I love journalism. I plan on attending SDSU-San Diego to further my goals in broadcasting. This is my second semester on The Mesa Press as a Staff Writer so I am beyond thrilled to be doing something I already do--write! Outside of  work and school, I enjoy dancing, eating at new restaurants, traveling to exciting places and spending money on frugal finds. I love the Denver Broncos but I enjoy watching most sports with great company!
