The Men’s water Polo team played a great game against Miramar College September 5th, 2018 with a winning score of 20-12. The 3:30 pm game saw a pretty intense first quarter that ended 5-4 Mesa. There were a lot of missed goals and opportunities, turnovers and time outs between the teams throughout the game. With just over five minutes left in the second quarter Samuel Suminski for Miramar tied the game. Not long after the tying score Miramar took the lead!

No less than a minute after Miramar took the lead, Mesa took it back with only 2:21 left in the first half and 7-5 on the scoreboard. Miramar had been playing as pretty well developed team until the third quarter. That’s when they started to lose their composure. Thanks to multiple scores from Kenny Pineo, the third quarter was when Mesa started to pull away. Despite a few stray balls Mesa was able to end the third quarter 15-9.

Miramar proved to be a worthy adversary, though the level of athleticism and passion Mesa showed and the intensity at which they played at, Miramar was unable to match. Both Cooper Lynch and Kenny Pineo playing for Mesa scored five points each during the second half alone. The stamina and ability to move the ball around and play as a team is what got the win for Mesa.
