The women’s beach volleyball team faced a significant challenge against Palm State Beach coming from Lake Worth, Fla., they suffered a tough 4-1 loss.
Even though heading into the match on a four match win streak from the previous two weeks and having a 6-2 3C2A record. This proved to be a true test of character for these women.
As the women encountered difficulties during the match, they embraced these challenges as learning opportunities.
“We’ve been sticking to the process and I’m really starting to see the benefit of doing that,” head coach Kim Lester said.
The team is focused on turning setbacks into lessons, using both their mistakes and successes to improve. This camaraderie is palpable, as teammates support each other through the highs and lows of competition.
The women have been working diligently to keep one another in a positive mindset.
“We’re all really good friends and it definitely contributes to our play,” captain Ami Lagrimas said.
Their recent match showcased their skills, resulting in two impressive victories of 5-0, putting them on a winning streak. With an overall record now standing at 6-5, the team is clearly on the rise. In the competitive 3C2A conference, they boast a commendable record of 6-2.
However, the match against Palm State Beach was a tough outing. The results were mixed: Lagrimas and Leyla Folkers lost 2-0, while Maria Coronado and Eva Luna fell short with a score of 1-2. On a brighter note, Bella Town and Trina Nguyen secured a strong victory, winning 2-0 and Rita Nua and Hanna Hetrick shined with a 2-0 victory. Halen Kiefer and Lia Go Soco lost 2-0, and Jaden Mojica and Myah Gomez faced challenges as well, losing 2-1.
Overall, the team’s record for the day reflects a tough outing at 1-4. Despite the losses, the women maintained high spirits and remained determined. They are ready to take the lessons learned from the match and apply them moving forward.
