The Olympians goalkeeper made seven important saves throughout the match keeping his team in the game helping them secure a hard earned draw.
The Olympians goalkeeper made three excellent saves in the first half. First in the 15′ from a free kick by Deserts #27 that went under the defensive wall making a diving catch, a few seconds later with another save in the 16′ with a diving save from a strong strike from Deserts #9. Then 14 minutes before halftime, getting the last save of the half from another free kick that went through the defensive wall.
The Olympians goalkeeper continued what he started in the first half, making even more difficult saves to keep Desert at bay. Coming out of his box in the 52′ to deny Deserts #3, making saves from corner kicks to deny Deserts #10 header in the 62′. In the 73′ with a spectacular diving save that could’ve brought the Olympians down 0-1, protecting his left post with a monster diving save to deny a screamer from Deserts #2.
The away team applied pressure but couldn’t get past the quality goalkeeping that the Olympian goalkeeper displayed. During the post game interview Head Coach Ray Taila expressed his thoughts on the performance, “I feel Enrique, our goalkeeper, phenomenal saves, he saved us, kept us in the game and he deserves the MVP of the game”.
With this stellar performance by the Olympian goalkeeper, the Olympians celebrate a hard fought draw building momentum and chemistry for a successful season.
