Mesa’s close game with Mt. San Jacinto had the audience out of their seats. Starting the game with multiple big hits from Mesa’s squad. Taking over the first couple innings, Itzel Soto helped the Olympians gain an impactful lead, with her two RBI’s and three hits along with three runs as well. The score was five to nothing before starting the third inning.Â
During the third inning the tides shifted. San Jacinto had two runners score early. The bases were loaded and one big home run drastically changed the scoreboard to a tie at 5 to 5. A back and forth followed between the two teams in the next inning too.Â
Although both teams were putting up a fight it would be Mesa that would take over the scoreboard. With their chemistry, they were able to get numerous runs and RBI’s. The Olympians would push the score to 11 while San Jacinto stayed at six.Â
Over the course of the next couple innings it would be a fight for both squads. Mesa was trying to take advantage of their lead and push the score up more. On the other hand San Jacinto was trying to survive the deficient and stay in range to comeback. Towards the end the defense would make the game for both sides.Â
Until during the seventh inning when the Eagles up the score by two points with their late runs boosting their score to eight.Â
Mesa would later close the game thanks to their pitcher Olivia Anderson who helped strike out batters all game. Finishing at 11-5.Â
Unfortunately the Mesa Softball team declined an interview with their incredible performance.Â
