On Oct. 14, the Allied Health Building, one of Mesa’s newest additions, will finally receive official recognition. The grand opening will take place at 10 a.m. in the “S” building at the east gateway entry off of Mesa College Drive.
Remarks from Mesa administration and other community members will precede a ribbon cutting to formally announce the building’s opening.
Self-guided tours and refreshments will follow the ceremony. Please note that classes will be in session, leaving classrooms unavailable for viewing although the laboratories will be accessible.
Parking is available in Lot 4, across the street from the Allied Health center; carpooling is encouraged!
The Allied Health Building was commissioned under Proposition S, the San Diego School Repair and Safety Measure. Prop S ensures to “improve every neighborhood school.” According to the proposition, the health building was built in accordance with the stipulation to “upgrade career/vocational classrooms and labs” at San Diego schools.
The new building offers six different medical programs, including Animal Health Technology, Dental Assisting, Health Information Technology, Medical Assisting, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Radiologic Technology. On average, depending on the program, new sessions start every couple of months.
