My sex doctor’s at my fingertips

We are living in a generation where an answer to any type of question is just a few clicks away. How would you like having everything you need to know about sex, just as close, and in the palm of your hands?

Well, now you can, with a new app that hopes to change the sex game for good: “MySexDoctor.”

The app aims to allay the fear and anxiety that people associate with sex and offers four categories in which to explore the issue: Topics, Dictionary, 100 Things You Must Know and Join the Revolution.

Some topics include ideas that may seem elementary to community college students such as “What’s happening to my body,” male and female sex organs, flirting or even menstruation. But dig deeper, and you will find that there are relevant questions for everyone.

For instance, abusive relationships is a subcategory under topics that provides detailed information on the issue right on the screen, something that can be eye opening for those trapped in such relationships.

According to loveisrespect.org, 70% of college students reported having been in an abusive relationship while the other 30% did not because they had no idea. MYSD explains how abuse can come in all forms, not just physical:

“Your partner systematically tries to cut you off from friends and family, thus undermining your ability to maintain social relationships with people other than him/her.”

Further exploration of the app introduces many unfamiliar terms, including “barebaking,” “pegging,” “pootie,” “tribadism” and at least 20 different phrases for penis. But that’s OK, as the included dictionary defines and explains these words and terms, even new age slangs. MYSD offers over 490 words so far, and the team is constantly adding more and tweaking existing definitions.

100 Things You Must Know provides vital health information on topics such as HIV, sexually transmitted diseases and acne treatments. It also provides tips for those who are sexually active ranging anywhere from anal sex, flirting, masturbation, to pregnancy, abortion and parenting.

The last category, Join the Revolution, urges people to spread the lessons learned via email, text and social networks. It also encourages people to keep asking questions that will allow the app to stay relevant for the younger generations.

Most of the topics discussed are available on MySexDoctor Lite, a free version of the app. The full version is also available to those who donate at least a dollar to the team, which unlocks more personal questions covering topics such as faking orgasms, tantric sex, lasting longer, perineum pressure and anal sex.

MYSD was created by Fabrizio Dolfi in 2013 and is now run by a small group of friends in London wanting to share their knowledge and experiences with early teens and young adults.

Will you join the revolution?
