The Advancement of Gays in the Modern Society

The Advancement of Gays in the Modern Society
The Obama Administration has recently repealed the Defense of Marriage Act, which would only define marriage as between a man and a woman. Finally, the government is making a socially progressive stance.
It’s hard to believe that same sex marriages are still a major issue today. How can any establishment, including our government, restrict two individuals from marrying? Time has changed and so has the standards of today’s society. In the modern era, when people are so openly gay, it’s time for the government to acknowledge the trend shift.
Our country nowadays is filled with proud, openly gay citizens. They pay taxes and contribute to our community just like any other citizen. They can be people we care deeply about. They can be our brothers, our sisters, our friends, or even our colleagues. Envision denying one of these people the right to marriage.
Marriage is a fundamental constitution of love and commitment. That notion should be upheld to the fullest, regardless of whether it’s between the opposite or same sex. Love is universal and is not limited to only opposite sexes.
Although gay marriage is immoral according to the Bible, it’s time to accept gays as our equals and grant them their natural rights, including the right to marry. We live in a country built on the freedom to pursue happiness. However, that idea is somehow lost in the modern society.
It’s time for us to take a moment and look at ourselves as human beings. We are all equal. We are all the same. Everyone should have the right to marriage and happiness. It’s unjust to restrict or limit marriage to a certain group.
The world is changing. Our country is changing. Our country’s ideals should change and adapt to the times. The society today differs from the days of our parents’ and grandparents’. It’s time to embrace the new world because it’s not going away anytime soon.
